Meet the Team

We are a small and passionate team ready to make a difference.

Our 2024 Community Impact Statement

The Pop-up Project Youth Outreach Program helps fill the dance education gap in Hamilton County by serving students in our public schools. We can be found at East Side Elementary, Normal Park Museum Magnet and through our community partnership with Northside Neighborhood House: Red Bank Middle School, Red Bank High School, and Hixson High School. We also collaborate with The City of Chattanooga (Shepherd Community Center, Eastdale Community Center, Avondale Library/Community Center),Young Ladies of Power, and Girls Inc.

We are currently serving over 400 children every week and year-round with dance classes. We provide FREE dance classes and an enriching arts experience to low income families in Chattanooga’s under-served communities which represent 50% of the students we serve. Our comprehensive program includes year-round dance classes (Sept-May) in ballet, hip hop, modern, jazz, and creative dance; a month-long summer dance program and a one-week long intensive SummerDance 2024; and field trips to milestone cultural events.

Our curriculum meets the comprehensive Tennessee Academic Standards for Fine Arts for Grades K-12. Our program improves the learning capacity for educationally marginalized populations using culturally responsive pedagogy and experience. This builds resilience in students and focuses on emotional, cognitive, and perceptual learning. Click below for a breakdown of the demographics of the students at each location we serve:
